Samsung U800 Adds to the Samsung Soul Range As ‘Soul B’

Mobile phone model names seem to be becoming more and more obscure as the manufacturers continue to try and think up new and impressive names for their showpiece handsets, we have recently seen the likes of the Orsay and Viewty from LG, the Supernova range from Nokia and the Steel and Tocco from Samsung, however their latest release of handsets does have a sound foundation beneath their name.

The ‘Soul’ range of mobile phones actually stands for Spirit of Ultra, the Ultra range was the most successful series of handsets that the manufacturer had launched to date and the new ‘Soul’ range was to emulate that success.

The first release from the series has fast become the top selling handset from the company and was called the Samsung U900 Soul, originally launched in a simple graphite casing the phone went on to be produced in silver, black and pink casings with even more colour variants expected in the future.

The manufacturer did a similar thing with their previous Ultra range of U600 handsets which ended up with the handset being available in over 8 different colour schemes.

The second and latest addition to the Samsung Soul range is the new U800, a very different offering from that of the U900 in as much as the is new handset is in candy-bar format, that means there are no flips or slides to contend with when operating the phone. The design is not dissimilar to the hugely successful Nokia 6500 Classic as both handsets offer a very slim design and are manufactured from similar materials, however the new U800 pips the 6500 to the post with a more advanced camera.

The Samsung U800 is also known by another name that sees it neatly fall into the ‘Spirit of Soul’ series, the Samsung Soul b was the name given to the phone throughout the production period, however it seems that the retailers have almost entirely dropped this name to avoid confusion with the original Samsung Soul which is still available from most sources.

With even smaller dimensions than the original U900 Soul, the Samsung U800 Soul b shows off its ultra slim candybar design with a brushed metal case.

The third addition to the Soul family and bearing a slighly different naming convention, the Samsung U800 Soul ‘b’ offers 1GB of shared memory which is expandable, along with a 3.15 mega pixel autofocus camera that boasts a built-in LED flash and video recording capabilities plus a secondary videocall camera.

Having mentioned the video calling capabilities it goes without saying that the Samsung U800 Soul b includes 3G HSDPA connectivity in addition to the Tri Band GSM with GPRS support and EDGE technology. Other connectivity options include USB connectivity and bluetooth wireless.

Getting back to multimedia functionality, the Samsung U800 Soul b is also equipped with a music player that offers support for multiple audio file formats and the FM radio comes with RDS support.

Even though the Samsung U800 Soul b boasts super slim dimensions, the screen measures 2″ with a display in 16 million colours. But not content with stopping there, the Samsung U800 Soul b’s phonebook will hold contact details for as many as 1000 entries and the phone comes preloaded with an Office document viewer or top of the standard web browser, SMS, MMS, EMS and Email features.

The Samsung U800 is currently available in a silver casing as a SIM free handset with no contract or exclusively on the Orange UK network operator for a limited time, after which the handset will be rolled out to further networks and increase the number of tariffs available.

They are also plans for different colour variants to include a pink edition for female mobile phone users.

Basically, smartphones are defined as a mobile phone which offers more than the typical features included in a traditional mobile device. What sets smartphones apart from the traditional handsets is the PC-like functionalities that they have.

These extra functions are ideal for those who are using their mobile phones for business applications.

Now, if you are looking for a smartphone issued by Samsung, the Samsung I560 may just be what you are looking for.

Samsung I560 Review: A Quick Look at the Features Included in the Mobile Phone

To know what the Samsung I560 mobile phone is all about, here are the features included in this mobile phone:

The Good & the Bad: Analyzing the Performance of the Samsung I560

Since the Samsung I560 falls under the smartphone category, there are a lot of expectations from this phone. This slider phone was first released in the market in October 2007.

The good thing about the Samsung I560 is that there is HSDPA and GPS connectivity. If you are looking for speed, the S60 operating platform is ideal. Its navigation feature is what makes the Samsung I560 a decent enough phone to have.

The battery life of the Samsung I560 mobile phone is decent. All in all, this is a pretty solid and unexciting mobile phone from Samsung.

Now, the downside is that Samsung has already released similar-looking phones in the market. If form factor, sleekness and design is what you are looking for, this is not for you.

Another downside to the phone is that quality of display is not as sharp as the previous Samsung versions. The colors are a little dimmer, too.

Additional Information about the Samsung I560 Mobile Phone

If you are looking for a new phone to purchase, you should also think about the mobile phone deals that you are getting. In the UK, there are two types of mobile phone deals that you can get along with the Samsung I560 unit.

The Samsung E series signifies the top level of mobile technology of its manufacturer. The handset that took the E series to a different level altogether is the Samsung E900 .
